The First Snow Man This Season

We finally got snow and it is perfect for building a snowman. We got about 3 inches but it is nice and wet and packs together.

Carter is always wanting to build a snowman whenever there has been snow, but the snow just has not come.

Thomas rolled up all the snow in our front yard with some help from Carter and Keenan.

The next day the sun came out again and melted all the snow. The snowman lasted a few days longer but was not around long. Carter wanted me to put the snowman in the freezer so that he would last but there just was not room. He really enjoyed the snowman while he lasted.

Swing Set Pallet Roof

My parents bought a swing set a few years ago.  It came with tarps that made canopies that covered a little table and also the platform at the top of the slide.  The sun had completely rotted them.  They had holes in them.  It was time to do something new.  I took apart four free pallets. I got enough wood to fix all three sloped awnings.

We decided that we needed to stain the new roofs to make them match the rest of the swing set and to protect them from the weather.  I had a very small amount of reddish brown stain from when I made a set of bunk beds and I had some oak colored stain.  Neither was enough to complete the job alone.  I also had a small can of polyurethane.  I dumped all three together, not measuring.  I am very pleased with the color.  I think it matches near perfectly.  More importantly, Grandma Jenson thinks it matches near perfectly.  It was a fun project.
