The Boy's New Addiction

This boy used to be addicted to bubbles.  He still wants his bubbles, but he seems to be more interested in a certain movie lately.  Now he is addicted to Buzz Lightyear.  He wants to watch Buzz just before bedtime and first thing in the morning.  It all started with a brand new shirt that we found at DI for $2.  We told Seth that it was Buzz on the front and it turned out to be one of the word that he could say.  He knows which shirt is his Buzz shirt versus which one is his choo choo (Thomas the Train) shirt. 

We are in Clearfield visiting Grandma and Grandpa Higham for Memorial weekend.  They did not have any toys for Seth to play with.  We made a trip to DI to find some action figures, cars and trucks.  We let Seth loose and he chose which toys he wanted.  He found a four wheeler and a tractor.  He also found a teenage mutant ninja turtle and Buzz.  Buzz was only 50 cents.  It was an excellent find.  Seth had too many toys to choose from.  After he found the good ones he kept putting them back down and other kids were trying to grab them.  Thomas had to wrestle them away from those other kids. 

Sometimes when we are visiting Grandma and Grandpa, we have too much fun and it is hard to find time to take naps.  Seth does pretty well.  I get him up on my lap (more like my knees, my lap is pretty small now days) and read him a book and he climbs into to bed for a nap without much of a fight.  He feels nice and cosy with his BYU blanket.

To this boy, all the different parts of the bed are good for sleeping.  When it is dark, he likes to try out different positions.  This one is called, "Where is that cussed pillow."

On Our Way Home

On our way home from Price we stopped in Huntington to help Grandpa remove some more dirt from his rental house.

. Along with dirt there were also heating pipes. These needed to be smashed so that they would fit nicely in the back of Grandpa’s truck. Seth took the hammer and went to work. He was a great help.

As we were driving I-70 Thomas said “Oh Wow, I barely missed that bird.” He was thinking that it was going to hit right into the windshield. We then stopped in Richfield to drop so things off at AmyJo’s and had a wonderful dinner. Skip and AmyJo really know how to treat you right. I cannot wait until the reunion.

As we were leaving AmyJo walked out with us to our car and she noticed that there was a big feather in the grill of our car. I tried to remove it and realized that it was more than a feather. It was the whole bird that Thomas thought that we had just barely missed. It did not come out easily and was pretty gorse.

I went back inside and watched my hand and then sanitized them. I don’t think that I will do something like that again.

Weekend at Grandma's

We are at Grandpa and Grandma Jenson's house in Price for the weekend. It has been fun so far. My mother had me cleaning out boxes; taking things to DI and to the garbage dump. It was a good thing that I was here to look through all the stuff and save my own things from going in the garbage. I cannot say the same for all of my brother's and sister's stuff. I would say to my brothers and sisters; in order to clean this house we had to get rid of some junk, and some people have just left too much junk in this house. If anything was discarded that you truely wanted, there is still time for you to go to DI and buy it back. They have very reasonable prices. May be you will appreciate your stuff the second time that you own it.

My Dad had me pull a few weeds and we plan to play a round of golf on Monday. We have had plenty of junk food. Seth has enjoyed having the toys all to himself.

Here is a picture of Seth wearing Grandpa's old hat. He wore it for about an hour after this picture. He usually does not like hats, but this one must have been very worked in and very comfortable. I tried it myself. It was very nice for an old hat. I put my initials inside.

He is Addicted!!!

Seth's Favorite thing to do is blow bubbles!!!

It is the first thing he asks for in the morning and the last thing he does before he goes to bed.

He even does it all day!!!
I give him the little white bottle of bubbles, so that he can carry them around and blow the bubbles himself with minimal spillage. I have to refill the little container several times a day which drives me crazy. I guess that is just feeding the addiction.

He is good at blowing the bubbles himself but he also likes to pop the bubbles that we blow.

It is a quiet activity but he does not like to do it alone. He always wants others to participate also which keeps us busy.

Recently I have had to hide the bubbles so that they are out of site and out of mind. He is only allowed one little white bottle full of bubbles a day and I refill it after he goes to bed so that he does not find out the hiding place. 

Trip to Logan

This last weekend we went to Logan to visit Erica & Cody and Mark & Linda. It was a lot of fun. Cody, Mark and I went golfing and we had a great time. The group behind us was way slow, so we were able to move at our own pace and just enjoy the day. We can't say that every shot went exactly where we meant for it to go, but we did have a few good shots that made us forget about the bad ones.

Seth was very excited to see Lilly. He wanted to hold her the whole time. He kept trying to pick her up and was always there to help push her in her swing.

He loved helping her eat from her bottle.

Every time Jennifer would hold Lilly, Seth would want to climb up on her lap as well.

He did a good job holding her and gave her many little kisses.

Seth really loves to play his iPod. This is how you will find him most mornings. We are very excited for Carter to get here, and I am sure that Seth will love playing with him as well. I am not sure which Seth will want to play with more, Carter or his iPod. You will have to ask Seth for yourself. Just don't ask him to share his iPod with Carter.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday April 2nd, Cedar City had its annual Easter egg hunt in the park. We had heard that it was a popular event and that we needed to arrive 30 minutes early in order to get a good spot. We got there early and got our spot. We were in the 0-3 yrs group. There were about 200 other kids in the same group.

Just before they let the kids go, they dumped out boxes and boxes of plastic eggs. There must have been somewhere around 5,000 eggs just for our group. They said that they had 20,000 eggs ready to go. There were four different age groups. You do the math.

The Easter Bunny arrived on a fire truck and Seth was watching him closely. I told Seth, "That bunny is going to get you," and he gave out a little yelp. After that he would not look away from the bunny. It did not help that some parents were forcing their little kids to get pictures with the bunny and they were screaming and fighting. This only made Seth more apprehensive.

When they gave the signal, a wave of little kids made a mad dash for the eggs.

Seth did not let them distract him. He stayed focused on the task at hand and got the goods. After all the eggs were collected, the organizers asked that we empty all our plastic eggs and return the shells to large garbage cans scattered everywhere. This way they would not have to buy 20,000 plastic eggs next year.

After quite an eventful morning, Seth took a nap with his favorite book, Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham".

There was snow on the ground during the Easter egg hunt. On my way home from work, at 6 pm that same day, I noticed that all the snow had melted. Spring weather never cooperates.

Seth's Bike Wash

Seth has decided that he wants to open up his own car wash. He has started practicing on his bikes. He is using the hair cutting spray bottle to get them wet.

Then he is using only the finest, German made, shammy to wipe them down.

He wants to focus on customer service. His motto is,
"Service With A Smile."
