Seth's Calculator

Seth has been doing well with letters and has started to read very simple books.  He is writing his name and copying sentences.  He even wrote love notes to both his grandmas.

He has always been interested in numbers.  His age is always his favorite number.  He is 4 and wants everything to be four.  We sit on the fourth row at church (we will not continue to move back as he gets older, if that is what you were thinking).  When he tries to get out of finishing his dinner, I ask him to take two more bites and he says, "How about I take four more bites."  Fine with me.  He thinks that he should get four of everything (which he doesn't) and that Carter should get two of everything (since he's two years old).  He has been learning his numbers and can now count to 1,000.  He recognizes street signs and has to point out the numbers that he sees (whatever the sign says).   He has memorized his address.  We just introduced the concept of adding number together.

The other day Wells Fargo gave me a free calculator.  When I took it home, I showed Seth how to add two plus two to equal four.  He thought that the calculator was kind of magical.  He played with it a bit and was showing Carter how it works.  Then he said, "Dad thanks for this calculator.  It is sooooo cool."  He then ran to me and gave me the biggest hug.  He then called Grandma Jenson and told her that he got a calculator and that seven plus seven equals 14.  The rest of the evening he played with it telling us all his calculations and how happy he was to find these answers.  He then found out that you can hit the equals button multiple times and the calculator will continue to add the number again.  He did 100 plus 100 and then was counting by 100s.  He did this with several numbers.  He knows his birthday is the 22nd of July and loves the number 22 as well.  He loves to show that 11 plus 11 is 22, his birthday.  That night he said our family prayer.  He prayed, "Please bless my calculator that Dad gave me and that it will help me to learn my number."  It's pretty fun having him around.

A little helper

Seth loves to help feed Keenan. After a little instruction Seth does fairly well. Keenan does not care who is feeding him as long as the food keeps coming.

Keenan has also learned to sit up on his own. He still tips over sometimes but he love to see the world from a different angle. He is growing so fast.

Happy Valentines

Since it was Valentines Day I made pink rolls to go with our chicken noodle soup. Thomas thought that they tasted different, which they did not.

There was  also enough dough left over that I also made strawberry sweet roll. They tasted great and were very festive. We did not do much for the holiday but we had a great day.

Three boys

Keenan is getting so big. He wants to play with the bigger boys. He loves to sit in his Bumbo chair and watch the bigger boys play and laughs at their silliness  Seth has been learning his numbers so we have a chart from 1 to 100 that he loves to recite to Keenan. Seth says that it calms Keenan down.
