The Turtle is Loose

Carter got his cast off today!!!

He looks pretty excited here and I was even more excited then him.

They had to pull off the tape that was protecting his skin from the cast. He got a little apprehensive but was a good sport

They used a medical saw with a vacuum so it went pretty slick.

It was then pried open, like cracking a pistachio.

The cotton was cut and he was free.

His joints are pretty stiff. He was not wanting to be moved and liked to be in the same position he was in the cast. They say it should only last a few days up to a week.

He is cleared to do whatever he feels up to doing, except jump on a trampoline.

Let Sleeping Babes Lie

Our boys have always fallen asleep in awkward positions.  Keenan is following his big brothers.  While taking his nap he got his legs between the bars of his cribs.  His knees are just barely bigger than the spaces.  His knees fit in, but needed help to get out.  It did not affect how long he napped.

Digging in the Dirt

Carter has always loved to dig in the dirt.  He will not let his broken leg and cast slow him down.

Soccer

Seth started soccer.  I am his coach.  He loved telling everyone that his dad is his coach.  Last year Seth's coach did not know anything about soccer.  I decided to be his coach, so that he would learn something this year.  We signed Carter up for soccer, but with his broken leg he will have to just watch.  Once he gets his cast removed, he will get to play a little bit.

Dove Hunt in Oak City

We went to Delta for Labor Day.  Sept 2nd was the opening day of the dove hunt.  I bought a 12 gauge shotgun a few months ago.  I had only shot clay pigeons.  I was really excited to try my aim on some doves.  Cody and I went out that morning with his brother Jacob and his cousin Phil.  The near nude kid in the picture is Phil's son.  We found quite a few doves on some BLM land just south of Oak City in fields of sun flowers.   We shot a lot of them.  We missed just as many as we shot.  One of the birds that Cody shot, went down, and then we could not find it.  We searched for about 10 minutes and then finally found it hopping around.  He had not killed it, just hit its wing.  He finished it off by breaking his neck.  We hunted most of the morning and then went to Cody's parents' house and cleaned all the birds.  Then we headed back to Delta to Cody and Erica's house.  Cody took the back road home to watch for a few final doves.  We saw two doves land in a bush right by the road.  We got out our guns and jumped out each of us on one side of the bush.  The birds flew and we each of us shot one.  It was really cool to get both doves.  Then back at Cody's house we cut the breast meat off the bone.  Cody breaded and fried up the breast meat and the hearts.  We ate them like chicken nuggets.  They were great.  I had a great time hanging out with Cody and hunting some doves.

Splash Pad

We went to Delta to visit my sister, Erica, and her family.  The weather was great and we really enjoyed the weekend.

We went down to the park and played at the splash pad.  There were tables with umbrellas and shade for the adults to enjoy.

Carter can't get all wet because of his cast, so he just play with a squirt gun and got the other kids wet.

There was a small little stream that was just right for Keenan.
