Potty Training

We thought that today would be a great day to start potty training. So far there have been no accidents!!!

...but it has only been half an hour.

Let us know if you have any tips or suggestions on how to make this an easy transition

Cater's first hair cut

Carter was born with hair down over his ears. Jennifer has been tucking it behind his ears for a while, so that family and friends could see how long it was.
He got his first hair cut on Saturday the 24th of July. He mostly got a trim around the ears and on the back. I took this picture and then I held Carter, so that Jennifer could use the comb to cut his hair properly. He would look like some kind of hick if his hair was not blended correctly. Also if he got a bad haircut he would not hear the end of it from his two beautician Aunts.

Now he is already to go on vacation and enjoy himself in Disneyland.

Seth is 2

Seth turned two years old on July 22, 2010. He has been practicing blowing out candles for months now and it all paid off. He blew out the first one in one try, but had a little trouble with the second one. We always light the candles twice, because it is so much fun and only comes around once a year.

Seth loved his cake. He did not think that Jennifer was dishing it up fast enough and decided to help himself to bite out of the cake pan.

He got a few presents and loved them all. He really loves his golf set. The problem is that he is like his dad and always loses the ball. Behind the couch is its favorite spot to hide.

Who is that sleeping in my bed?

Seth is very helpful and always wants to lend a hand to Jennifer with Carter. He really loved giving Lily a bottle a few months ago when we were visiting Erica in Logan, and he is happy to help his little brother with his bottle too. Seth thinks he is the only one that can give Carter his bottle. The only problem is Jennifer has to watch him closely, because Seth thinks, “If it is good for Carter it is good for me too.” A few times, Seth has taken the bottle out of Carter’s mouth and put it into his own. He always wants Carter’s milk. He does the same thing with the pacifier. It is quite funny that when Seth was a baby he did not want a pacifier, but now that he sees others enjoying it he wants to get in on it too. Things are always more fun when you see that someone else is enjoying them too. Little kids always want their turn, no matter what it is.
Another thing that Seth sees Carter use and now wants is his bed. Many times Jennifer has put the two boys down for a nap and gone back to check on them, only to find that Seth has climbed into the pack n play to snooze with Carter. When Seth was 15 months old, he would bawl and did not want to be put in the pack n play. That is when he got his big boy bed. Now that Carter is using the pack n play, Seth is very interested in it. I guess things are always more fun with your little brother.

Seth and I like to play catch with the football. He always wants to include Carter in all that we do. One time Seth was calling me to come see what he had done in his room. He shared the football with Carter. Carter is a good sport and does not tattle to his mommy about all the little things that Seth does to him.

Seth has always been good to let us brush his teeth each night. He had teeth when he was 3 months old. Back then he was too little to stop us. Now that he is bigger he allows us to brush and then he takes a turn. Lately he has been running from us and covering his mouth when we catch him. Jennifer had an old electric tooth brush lying around. We started letting Seth use that one, and now he is excited about brushing his teeth again. He even wants to brush his teeth in the middle of the day.

Here is our first family photo with Carter.

Life With Two Boys

I was told that it would be a huge adjustment to have 2 Children. So far everything has gone rather smooth. Seth really loves his brother Carter. He wants to always hold him and offers a hand to help. A nurse told me the other day that Seth is doing well with Carter because I am handling it so well. Seth must not feel threatened by the new baby.

I have forgotten how much energy it takes to care for a new baby. Thomas snapped this picture early one morning. I try to get sleep whenever I can.

We took Carter to his first fireworks on the 3rd of July in Clearfield. It was a cool night so we did our best to stay warm. Carter slept the whole time and was not bothered by the loud fireworks.

Seth was not sure about the fireworks that night but he saw that we were enjoying so then he relaxed and had a great night. We plan to do some fireworks for Seth’s birthday in a few weeks.

More pictures of Carter and Gang

Here is Jennifer an hour after delivering Carter. She looks good, doesn't she?

Here in a rare moment when Carter has his eyes open.

Carter was pretty fussy when we brought him home. This bouncer has a battery powered vibrator on the side. It is Carter's new best friend, until the battery runs out (that already happened once).

This banner shows all the things that Seth is ready to share with Carter.

Amy Jo has been keeping Seth in Richfield for a few days. He is really enjoying playing with his cousins. Amy Jo said the other kids don't like him to play with their toys and every time he grabs something they are whining and crying, "That's mine."

Amy Jo bought him this Woody. Now he has something that is all his very own. He even branded Woody, so the other kids would know who owns him.

Thanks Skip and Amy Jo. You have been so helpful in our time of need.

Carter

Here he is world. Carter Read Jenson was born June 21, 2010 at 9:27 pm.

He looks a great deal like our Seth, as far as we can tell so far. Don't most babies look alike? Seth has gone to play at Aunt Amy Jo's house for a few days, so we will have to compare them side by side later this week.

He does have quite a bit of hair.
