Play Time

The winter has been long and we thought that it was coming to an end, but not yet. The other day we got about a foot and a half of snow. It is beautiful, but we are ready for Spring. We were planning to go to the grocery store but our car doors were frozen shut. We were stuck at home. So this is what we did….

Seth loves to play peek-a-boo. He has become a lot more animated and playful. In just a few months we will be moving around the house (we are not looking forward to him getting into things) but for now we will enjoy our baby.

Oh Watch Him Grow

Seth is growing so fast. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing home our new baby boy and now he is 6 months old. He has learned to roll sit up on his own, and is starting to eat solids. He also knows exactly who his parents are. The other night we left him with Aunt KellyAnn. She told us that after we left he started to cry for a few minutes. She tried to do whatever she could to get Seth to laugh or even crack a smile and he would not budge. As soon as we returned he would not stop playing and having a great time with us. I am not sure if this is something to be excited about but it sure does make you feel good when he lights up as soon as you come in the room.

Good Thing They Chose Someone Else

I applied for a job a while back and was turned down. I applied for this internship at a company called Lozier, back in August of 2007. They manufacture all the shelving that you see in Walmart, Costco, and Walgreens. During the interview process everything looked great. The guy that I was going to be replacing was going to be staying for a few months to train the new guy and he was helping chose the new intern. He told me that he was voting for me and so were three others out of four. Later I found out that they chose some lady that had been working there for a year or so in the purchasing department. The fourth guy, the Treasurer, made the decision. That guy didn't interview me or even meet me. I don't know why they were interviewing, if they already had a replacement in mind. I just kept working at Jiffy Lube. It turned out to be a good thing. I was able to flush John's transmission in his Odyssey. That made working at Jiffy Lube worth it just to help John out. The next August, 2008, the lady that they hired for the intern position one year earlier, had a baby and quit. I was told by her husband what was going on and I went down to talk to the Controller that same day. He was very very happy to see me and said that he had been thinking about me and wondering how he could get a hold of me. I went through the interview process again and even met the Treasurer. It went well again and they talk with me as if I had already gotten the job. I was pretty excited. I was then informed that due to schedule conflicts, they had chosen someone else to fill the position. I was taking classes in the morning and I was free in the afternoon. They needed someone that would be available in the mornings. Jennifer was pretty ticked off and wanted to horse whip somebody. Luckily, it wasn't me. I just kept working at Jiffy Lube and being promoted there and becoming more certified and receiving raises. I found out the other day that Lozier is closing down the factory that they have here in Cedar. I was very glad that I did not get that job. With the economy like it is, it is a blessing to just have a job. I would hate to unemployed, like Mark; mooching off his wife. You never know how the Lord is looking out for you. Sometimes you think everything is going bad and you will never get ahead, but then you realize He was preparing the way for you all along. Jiffy Lube has been good to me. Remember to get your oil changed.

Jensons of 2008

This year the Jenson's have been blessed with three additions. Seth was born in July and Bandon and Brinley were born in August. There is now a grand total of 12 Grandchildren. Six boys and Six girls.
All three are so cute. Here they are at Grandma Jenson's during the Christmas Holiday.
We look forward to them growing and playing with each other.

Elves Are All Around Us

We caught this elf peeking in our window the other day. I caught him by the ear and had a nice talk with him. I explained that Seth is too little to be getting into any trouble. I pointing him down the road to a house with a little girl and her three brothers. I told him that house needs to be double checked to see what they are up too. I am not sure what is going on, but I hear a lot of screaming coming out of there. Now that we are coming down to crunch time, we best be on our toes and know that Santa is watching.

Christmas Tree

Our first Christmas together we got a $5 tree permit from the BLM and cut down a massive tree. It looked smaller in the wilderness. When we got it in our front room it took up half the space. It almost covered the TV. We had to sit on one end of the couch to watch movies. The next year we decided to just use an artificial tree that John and Misty had given us for a wedding present. The funny thing is that when we moved from Price to Cedar City we accidentally took Mom's tree. When we pulled it out of the box, it was pre-lite and a good looking tree. We did not even realize that we had the wrong tree until Mom told us that she could not find her tree and that she had ours. This year we went back to the $5 BLM permit and cut down another real tree. It is always fun to go up in the hills and search for a real tree; even if you get your truck stuck in the snow. One things about cutting down wild trees, compared to those trees found on Christmas tree lots, the branches and needles are thinner. There were not many trees to choose from. I thought about cutting down a bigger tree and only saving the top half. After only a half an hour or so, we found a good little six foot tree and cut it down. I need to thank Skip for the use of his shovel. It was helpful in removing the snow from the bottom of the tree for easy cutting and it was helpful in getting our truck unstuck from the ice and snow. I would have to say, this is the smallest tree I have ever had. The trunk is really skinny too. I could pick it up with one hand. We got the tree home, up in our apartment and in the tree stand, but could not secure it. If we let go of the tree it would tip over. I even cranked the fasteners all the way down; half an inch into the tree trunk, but still it was loose and wobbly. I then went back to Dad's old, proven, last resort technique. I ran across the street and found some rocks. Placing the rocks in the bottom of the tree stand stabilized it perfectly. Jennifer got the tree all decorated and looking great. This tree serves a dual purpose. It is nice to look at and get us in the holiday mood and it serves as a baby-sitter. When Jennifer is doing things that require both hands, she can lay Seth on the floor near the tree and he will be content gazing at the lights. It is a shame we cannot have a tree up all year long.

Thanksgiving at the Temple

Jennifer's family has started a tradition the day after Thanksgiving. Last year we went to the Ogden Temple, went through a session and ate lunch in the cafeteria. I had a chimichanga which was delicious. This year we went later in the evening because other suckers had to work on Friday. It was too late for us to enjoy the food in the cafeteria, but we got some ice cream. We went to Farr's Ice cream Parlor and pigged out. I had a rocky road sugar cone, which was delicious. The place was packed. It is in an older building and the sitting area has a maximum capacity of 6 people or so (maybe 20). They really need to look into expanding. The ice cream was good, but it was no temple cafeteria chimichanga.
